Assignments have gone out! Have fun vidding your Frankenvid bits đ If you haven't gotten your assignment yet, please check your spam folder.
Something we forgot to mention on the info post: please donât use any of the source audio! Only use the audio weâve sent you. If this messes with your plans, please just get in touch, weâll figure something out.
Once youâre done, please submit your vid segment as follows:
Metadata
We need your metadata! This means we need a list of all sources that you used (full show/book/media title, and ideally the year it was made). We also need the names of all vidders who helped vid the segment. Make sure this is a name youâll be happy to have show up in the credits!
Stick all that info in a word doc or a txt file and give that file a name thatâll allow us to identify which vid segment is yours (i.e. use the same file name, ideally).
Vid Segment
We need your vid segment! See below for formatting details and tips. If youâre struggling, donât hesitate to contact us! Name your vid file something thatâll allow us to figure out who made it and upload it together with your metadata file.
Vid Segment Format
File type: mp4
Codec: h.264/AVC (if your render selection doesnât offer codecs, look for âWeb Videoâ or anything like that)
Aspect ratio: 16:9
We donât ask for a specific frame rate â just submit whatever is easiest for you. Please note that we may have to change the frame rate on your clip to match the rest of the vid. This should not have major impact, but if youâre worried, just get in touch!
To meet the required aspect ratio, you may have to letterbox your clips. You may also crop if you prefer, but letterbox is perfectly fine. Meaning:
Sources in 4:3 (i.e. old TV aspect ratio):
Sources in cinemascope (narrow, wide aspect ratios):
And so on. The important part is that, when you divide your frame height including the letterbox by 9 and then take it times 16, it should add up to the frame width.
Donât worry about subtitles. We will create softsubs for the final Frankenvid and add them in.
If you need help with rendering (or anything else), donât hesitate to ask!

Date: 2023-05-13 08:45 am (UTC)Do you want any extra footage either end of the music clip - either black or a few extra frames of the source?
And could you take a quick look once I submit to make sure I got codec and aspect ratio right? I think I have, but I've not used this render option before, so I'm not 100% sure. I still have time to fix it if it's wrong, and I'd rather ask you about it now than closer to the deadline when you'll be super busy.
