Exciting news - vid submissions are now open for both Premieres and Vidder’s Choice!

If you have registered for VidUKon 2021, you can now submit your vids for both shows via this Google Form.

The deadline for Vidder’s Choice is Saturday 1 May, and the deadline for Premieres is Sunday 9 May. If you want to submit a vid to one or both shows but you don’t expect to be registered before these deadlines, please email us at vidukon AT gmail DOT com, and we will let you know how to get your vids to us.

Premieres

Absolutely any vidder can submit a premiering vid to VidUKon. You do not need to be attending the convention. You do not need to be at any particular level of skill or experience. The vid you submit can be in any fandom, genre or style. It can be a solo vid or a collaboration. The only requirement is that the vid be completely new, showing for the first time at the con. This means that once you submit it to us, you cannot release it online or show it at any other convention until after the Premieres show on Saturday night of the con. After that you can release the vid as usual.

The deadline for Premieres is Sunday 9 May, so make sure to submit your vid before then. You will need both a streaming link and a download link for a video file, for the Premieres DVD. The streaming link should not be passworded, but it should also not be easily found before Premieres, so that people can’t watch the vid beforehand. The downloadable file can be in any common video format.

Vidder’s Choice

Vidders who have registered to attend this year’s convention can submit one of their own existing vids to this show. It can be any vid at all that you've made, so long as it has been previously released. This is an opportunity to highlight a hidden gem, celebrate an old favourite, or maybe even drag a few new people into an obscure fandom!

The deadline for Vidder's Choice is Saturday 1 May, so make sure to submit your vid before then. You will need both a streaming link and a download link for a file (to make curation easier). The streaming link should not be passworded. The downloadable file can be in any common video format.

We can't wait to see your vids!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just tried to submit a premiere and it's not working - I keep getting "This field is required." even though I filled out everything.

I'm having the same issue as findmeinthealps: even though I added my vid to the IVDB, and I can select it from the Video dropdown on the Add Video page, hitting Save just clears the Video field and gives me a "this field is required" error message.

Additionally, when adding my vid to the IVDB, I wasn't able to include source or music info. I could only select existing source or music that was autogenerated in the dropdown, I couldn't add new source or music.

No hassle; the submission page seems pretty straightforward (when it works :). But thanks for the alternate submission method!

Is there a con policy somewhere about vid content guidelines? I have an old vid that I do wish more people would have seen, but I'm not sure it's appropriate for the con.

Hi there, concom member here! Although we wouldn't rule out the possibility of very rare exceptions, in general all vids are permitted as long as they're accompanied by appropriate warnings. If you're still not sure, feel free to message me with more detail. :)

I may have submitted a Vidder's Choice vid earlier this month?? I didn't keep good notes and don't remember. I definitely just submitted a Vidder's Choice vid now. In case of two entries - I'd like the 29 April submission.

Hello! In case you haven't had a reply from a different quarter, I've checked and only see a VC submission from you on the 29th. All good!

For Premieres what time is the cut off/deadline for submission on the 9th? Also how many premieres to submit is too many? I've submitted 2 but believe I could have a 3rd that's almost ready to go beta'd and submitted by the deadline but if 3 submissions would be too much I won't rush on that.

Hello! I'm the Premieres VJ this year. On Conline the cutoff is 23:59 con time (BST), but we can be flexible - the Google form may still remain live.

As for number of premieres, our culture is strongly towards one premiere per vidder. Thank you for asking!
