Welcome to the discussion post for the Best of Festivids vidshow, as voted for by members of the vidding community!

(This is a new thing we’re trying - we love talking about the vidshows at the con itself, but we think there’s scope for further discussion here on Dreamwidth, where folks who weren’t able to attend the con can get involved too. Anyone who’s interested is welcome to watch the show and join in! We’ll be running these posts roughly once a month, initially featuring shows from VidUKon 2019.)

I always enjoy the Festivids show, but this was such a good one! Even by the usual high standard, I looooove so many of these - even the ones for canons I'm less familiar with are either funny or so well constructed that they're just a treat to watch anyway.

Also "Skip to the Good Bit" is THE Spaced vid, for me, and I am just in awe of what a perfect combo it makes.

... and Jason Mendoza IS an All Star, and I never expected to have sea monster feelings, and Nailed It really is the best place for Tubthumping and honestly they're so good. I need to watch Hilda based on your vid alone!

OMG, I think you would love Hilda! It's so fun and smart and looks so gorgeous. At the moment there's only 13 24-minute episodes so it's a nice quick watch too.

I am rewatching them all now and I'd also forgotten at how astonished I was ANYONE found a canon that you could vid I've Got A Theory to, like, appropriately, and yet!

YES, I only know that fandom through osmosis but that vid is GREAT!

I have a lot of love for this show :) I have a block in my head that makes it difficult to go and browse through Festivids when the vids are posted up, so I don't tend to see that many of them. This show brings a selection I know I'm going to love (even if I'm bemused by them) and always shows me a new show I should try and catch up with one of these years ;)

I think my favourite of the vids from this year was the Machineries of Empire vid by rhea - I'm fascinated to see how people can make vids for fandoms without moving canon sources. It's like magic!

Yeah, I'm always blown away by that kind of constructed reality, so impressive! I wouldn't know where to start!
