Getting Ready for VidUKon 2021!

Plans are in motion for VidUKon 2021 - we don’t know for sure yet whether it will be online only or both online and in person, but either way it’s going to happen on the weekend of 11-13 June, 2021. Our previous 2020 booking at the Future Inn Cardiff Bay has been rolled over to this date, so we’ll be back in Cardiff if it’s legal and safe by that point. VidUKon 2020 was a big change for us and we tried out lots of cool new things that we want to keep doing in the future. To help us make VidUKon 2021 even better, we’re looking for volunteers for a few different roles:

- ConCom members. We’re looking to grow our ConCom a bit to share the load of organising the con. This involves occasional bits and pieces of work throughout the year, with a busier period in the spring and a few fairly intense weeks in the run-up to the con.

- Discord moderators, especially based outside Europe. Socialising on Discord worked great for us on the whole this year! To make it even better, we’d like some moderators to keep an eye on what’s going on there, especially during times when UK-based ConCom aren’t available. This would probably involve some fairly short training just before the con, and then some shifts over the course of the con weekend.

- Data entry volunteers to help us move records over from the existing VidUKon site to make past cons viewable on Conline. This will be an ongoing project with flexible commitment levels.
