VidUKon 2020 Update - Virtual Con Platform!

We neeeearly have a working virtual con platform - not quite there for having a proper play yet, but close!

It would be great if people could start to create accounts on the platform and join VidUKon's bit of it, so we can transfer your registrations across (they're two completely different sites, so there's a bit of a shuffle.)

To create an account:

1. Go to https://conline.club/login/ and click on the social network of your choice.

2. Go to https://vidukon.conline.club/ and click the "Join" link on the top right.

That's it! You're done!

Hopefully. If something goes spang in to the corner, let us know :D

The best bet after that is to back slowly away until the "OMG PLS HELP BETA!" alert goes out, when way more stuff will be properly plugged in and not making ominous creaking sounds.

(Plus, if anyone is a member of the vidding discord server, there is now a conline channel there where you can mention any tech support-type issues that may arise.)

Apparently I failed to buy membership either last year or this year - is it too late to sign up?

Maybe I'm dumb, but it's not obvious to me how you're going to know to connect the account I just created with my con registration. Will that part come later?

Is there a way to join conline without giving it access to a social network? I'm not thrilled with the TOS for twitter.

This application will be able to:

See Tweets from your timeline (including protected Tweets) as well as your Lists and collections.
See your Twitter profile information and account settings.
See accounts you follow, mute, and block.
Follow and unfollow accounts for you.
Update your profile and account settings.
Post and delete Tweets for you, and engage with Tweets posted by others (Like, un-Like, or reply to a Tweet, Retweet, etc.) for you.
Create, manage, and delete Lists and collections for you.
Mute, block, and report accounts for you.
See your email address.

I second the social media integration concern and would have welcomed an email address/password/check your email and click the link to activate your account option.

I did end up using a SM account to register, as everything about this fannish identity is fake and I want to take part in the con, but I've also skipped signing up for other things by way of social media integration because it's a bit invasive, imo.
