Auction: Bidding Open!

Bidding is now open in the annual VidUKon auction! Head on over to bid for a vid made just for you!

Bidding is open from now until Friday 31st January 2020, 8:01pm GMT

Three heroic vidders have offered their services this year:

AurumCalendula is offering a range of fandoms, from Batwoman and The Bletchley Circle to Gentleman Jack, as well as a variety of movies.

If you're hankering for a Farscape, Birds of Prey or Foyle's War vid, jagwriter78 has got you covered, with many other fandoms on the list too.

We're delighted to welcome VidUKon auction first-timer smilebackwards, who offers fandoms including Star Wars Prequels and Original Trilogy, Justice League: The Animated Series and Leverage.

For more information on all of these vidders, or to get right down to bidding, head over to the Auction page on our website.

I'm mainly bidding to support, so after target is reached, if you have strong feelings about winning a vidder, tell me to stop outbidding you :)

Well, I may fight you for smilebackwards, because Love You Like That is delightful!

Thank you for supporting the con :) Bidding could get quite intense this year...

Now we're set for coffee, *phew*.

It'd be nice if the target bar also showed support from registrations?

I used to buy the quiz prizes myself in previous years, and depending on how the auction goes, I might do the same thing this year, so that we can have more tea/biscuits/sandwiches instead ;)

The auction's seperate from registrations, because we rely on registrations to pay for the room hire, which is the biggest of all the con expenses... we also keep the money for scholarships in a seperate pot, as that's donated for a distinct purpose.

As someone who tends to feel I "ought" to pay for this and that for others, please don't: You already do so much for the con AND have the energy to be welcoming to newbies on top :)

I am also glad you'll be rooming with [personal profile] kabal42, so you don't have to do all that travelling morning and night like last year.

I did not mean the registration fee itself, but the option to donate extra.

Newbies are great! I love it when new people come to the con and get to meet people I know are lovely :) And Lithy and Doccy sort of adopted me at my second VidUKon, and were so nice and welcoming that they set the gold standard for me ;)

I always give myself a budget for the con, and with lower odds of winning an auction vid and the reduced bill for the room, I can afford the quiz prizes... One of the things I really like about the tea/coffee breaks and the buffets is that it gives everyone more chance to hang out together, rather than everyone dashing off to the bar or other eateries. I'm hoping I'll be much more awake at the con this year :) Last year was the first year I've missed the tea party, which feels like a tragedy for the ages...

Hmm, I see what you mean about the donations. I'll have a chat behind the scenes; I'm not sure we could do anything for this auction (everything's already running) but it may be something we... by which I mean the amazing Lithy... could hook up for next year.

How do you feel about Wonder Woman 84 and boardgames at this year's VidUKon? :D

I don't know what the alongside-registration donations are used for, but there's a limit to what I can spend, too, so if they do go towards the same things as the auction, it'd be nice to know before I stretch my budget too much :)

WW1984 for going to see it together? Yes, definitely! Bordgames, maybe - there is SO much going on already, I always need to skip things, or my poor brain explodes :/
