Submissions Open - Panels and Vidshow ideas!

We're now open for programming ideas! The good, the crazy, the weird, the wonderful...

As ever, we're particularly in need of panel ideas, also panel/vidshow combos are great, and if you'd like to try a workshop or different format, make a suggestion, brainstorm and make it happen! Priority will be given to attending members, but supporting members can put together vidshows for us as well.

Veteran VJs are welcome and so are first-timers - if you'd like to put a vidshow together but don't know where to start, get in touch and we'll be happy to help. Want to brainstorm? Get feedback on your ideas or suggest them for someone else to pick up in the comments on this post or the LJ mirror at vidukon

Not sure if this is something I'd want to do myself or not, it depends what other ideas I have for this year, but I think it could be cool to have a How to Make a Vidshow panel! Lots of the same folks do vidshows year after year, which is awesome because now they're all really good at it, but if new people are interested but need a bit of encouragement and extra information, this could be helpful.

One of the ideas I was toying with was for a horror-themed vidshow - either a celebration of horror sources, or horror vids themselves... one of the things that made me think of this was a Good Neighbour Totoro vid that's edited to make it look as if Totoro is a giant child-eating monster coming for you when you sleep...

I am possibly thinking of submitting a vidshow themed around hope. I feel like that would be nice this year! I know I do a show basically every year though...

I just missed the deadline last year with an idea for a discussion panel about vidding closed canon source vs. vidding open canon source, how we might approach the two differently (or not), pros and cons of each, et cetera. If there's interest I'd be willing to do that one this year.

Ideas! These are all donated by charloween :) much as I'd like to pass them off as mine.

Free to a good home...

vidshow's and panels
- chromatic characters vidshow, (with a paired panel)
- a return of the feel-good vidshow, since we haven't had one since 2011 - (maybe this crosses with carawj's Hope idea?)
- the joke 2012 vidshows from the site.
- anarchy/fight the system/stick it to the man (but uplifting not dystopic)

workshop type things(I'm up for co-running one of these).:
- a vidding round robin
- an exquisite corpse vid, taking a single movie and vidding in groups over the weekend, each group taking a slice of song, and then we stitch them together to screen at Sunday lunch?
- a 'how to do x thing' workshop for intermediate/advanced vidders, like a drop-in/coop style thing.

Oh shit, this intermediate (or maybe by now I'm advanced) vidder would love to learn how to do lighting effects better.
