Posting for Ed/BrokenMnemonic, who was unable to post for some reason. Sorry for the delay in writing...

Hi Isagel,

I'm the techy person for Vidukon this time (although Beccatoria is doing a lot of the hard work, because she's awesome that way) so Buffyann pinged me to followup her comment below.

At the moment, yes, we will need those vids that are premiering but which are not a part of the Premieres vidshow in both a playlist format and a DVD format. They'll definitely be included by default on the Premieres DVD that's going out to all of our attending and non-attending members, so we need them in the Premieres format for that.

The shows themselves have much looser requirements for vid formats because we want to make it as easy as possible for VJers and panelists to submit vids and to leave it for Becka and me to worry about getting them all in a consistent format for playing.

At the moment, the default option is that we'll be playlisting them from a PC running either Windows or Linux, but depending on the formats in which the various vids arrive, we may be able to move over to a DVD-based show for some of the shows. We can't second-guess what format the vids are going to arrive in though, and trying to get them all from the outset in a DVD-playable format was a huge problem for the last con because of the number of encoding problems and the resulting resubmissions needed.

So, unfortunately, while it does mean that those premiering vids outside of the Premieres show will need to submit in two different formats - one of which might prove to be redundant - it's the option that makes life easiest for getting the non-Premieres shows put together.

I hope that helps :) Or at least, isn't completely confusing and annoying ;)

Ed
